Cost of college went up for all students at Richland Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 1 percent for 2018-19 at Richland Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois residents paid $6,060 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $60 more than the $6,000 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 139.1 percent more than residents this year, or $14,490. Their price tag grew 0.4 percent from $14,430 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Illinois residents. And about 1 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 83 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 199 students received grants or scholarships totaling $859,447 and 39 students took out student loans totaling more than $163,592.

Including all undergraduates (2,476), 1,312 students used grants or scholarships totaling $4.8 million, and 314 students took out $1.2 million in federal student loans.
