South Macon VFD responds to 21 fires in 2018

South Macon Volunteer Fire Department responded to 30 calls in 2018 - 31.8 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in South Macon included 21 fires - 12 structure fires, five vehicle fires and four other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $4,500 in fire loss - or about $214 per fire.

The department also received eight false calls.

The South Macon Volunteer Fire Department had an annual budget of $119,167 in 2018.
