Mt Zion FPD responds to 26 fires in 2018

Mt Zion Fire Protection District responded to 51 calls in 2018 - 30.1 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Mt Zion included 26 fires - 13 structure fires, three vehicle fires and 10 other fires.

In all, the department saw $67,000 in fire loss - or about $2,577 per fire.

The department also received 25 false calls.

The Mount Zion FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has one active employee and one retired or inactive employee, was $2,796 positive as of October 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $76 for every fire in 2017.
