State Sen. Chapin Rose (R-Champaign) filed legislation that would direct funding that was not used from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act to help save jobs in Illinois, according to a news release.
Rose created a petition for supporters to sign if they want to show that they support the legislation.
"Sen. Rose has filed legislation to immediately direct dormant CARES Act funding to businesses who are facing massive employee layoffs due to COVID-19," a news release with the petition embedded in it said. "We can't afford any more jobs lost. We can't wait any longer to get this money to the people who need it to keep food on these employees' families' tables. You can help move this forward by signing the petition below."
The petition gives supporters an option to select that they do agree with Rose that the CARES Act funding should go toward saving jobs and preventing layoffs. The supporters can then fill in their information to sign the petition.
The petition was announced on Dec. 22. Rose wants to help prevent layoffs and job loss due to the pandemic and businesses struggling.
