Moultrie County Board met Feb. 23.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Moultrie County Board met in Courtroom B, Third Floor of the Moultrie County Courthouse. Chairman McCabe called the meeting to order at 9:03 a.m.

Opening Prayer by Dave McCabe.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

Roll Call was taken, with the following Board members present Dave McCabe, Larry Baker, Neil Bryan, Arlene Aschermann, Billy Voyles, Tyler Graven, John Fayhee. Absent: Elizabeth Houser, Todd Maxedon.

There were ten people in attendance, which included 7 Board members and County Clerk Georgia England.

The purpose of the Special County Board Meeting was to discuss and act on a Resolution Requesting Authority from the General Assembly to Exercise Quick-Take Powers of Eminent Domain for the Completion of a Highway Project on Township road 185A [a/k/a Howie’s Corner – Hwy. 32 and Bruce-Findlay Road crossroad]. County Highway Engineer Jeff Birch and State’s Attorney Tracy Weaver stated that the one property owner refusing to sell would delay the highway project, causing substantial increase of cost.

Aschermann moved to approve the Resolution Requesting Authority from the General Assembly to Exercise Quick-Take Powers of Eminent Domain for the Completion of a Highway Project on Township road 185A. Voyles seconded said motion, which passed by roll call vote. (7 yes, 0 no)

With no further business, Bryan moved to adjourn the meeting. Voyles seconded said motion, which passed by voice vote. Meeting adjourned at 9:13 a.m.
