City of Decatur City Council Met May 10.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The City Council of the City of Decatur, Illinois, met in Study Session at 5:30 p.m., in the Decatur Civic Center Theater, One Gary K. Anderson Plaza, Decatur, Illinois.

Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe presided, together with her being Council members Lisa Gregory, David Horn, Chuck Kuhle, Rodney Walker, Bill Faber and Ed Culp. Mayor Moore Wolfe declared a quorum present.

City Manager Scot Wrighton attended the meeting as well.

Mayor Moore Wolfe led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mayor Moore Wolfe called for a Study Session on the Lake Decatur Watershed Management.

Mr. Jeff Beckler with Northwater Consulting gave a presentation on strategies for erosion control measures to slow the rate of silt from entering the lake and matters related to management of the lake, erosion control, regulation of land uses adjoining Lake Decatur, shoreline improvements, and partnerships with farmers.

Mr. Bill Faber exited the Theater at 5:50 p.m. and returned at 5:53 p.m.

Mr. Beckler answered questions from Council regarding reducing nitrates and sediment from the lake and the efficiency of the sediment traps currently in place.

Mr. Rodney Walker exited the Theater at 6:42 p.m. and returned at 6:45 p.m.

Mr. Keith Alexander, Water Production Manager spoke about stakeholder engagement and lake preservation efforts.

With no further discussion, Mayor Moore Wolfe called for Appearance of Citizens. Councilman Faber exited the Theater at 7:09 p.m. and returned at 7:12 p.m. The following citizen provided comments to the Council: Sandra Lindberg.

With no other Appearance of Citizens, Councilman Faber announced that he extended an invitation to Congressman Rodney Davis to speak at the next City Council meeting about affordable medical care.

Councilman Culp reported that after more than 70 years, the remains of U.S. Cpl. Asa Emmitt Vance, of Decatur, Illinois, a Korean War veteran were being transported home. U.S. Cpl. Asa Vance was reported missing in action on December 2, 1950.

Mayor Moore Wolfe called for adjournment. Councilwoman Gregory moved the Council meeting be adjourned; seconded by Councilman Kuhle and on call of the roll, Council members Lisa Gregory, David Horn, Chuck Kuhle, Rodney Walker, Bill Faber, Ed Culp and Mayor Moore Wolfe voted aye. Mayor Moore Wolfe declared the motion carried.

Mayor Moore Wolfe declared the Study Session adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
