University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign recently issued the following announcement.
The Macon County 4-H and Extension Foundation offers scholarships to outstanding students who have developed their talents through the 4-H program in Macon County. This year, three 4-H members have been selected for various scholarships based on their years of 4-H membership, academic achievements, school and community activities, character, and citizenship.
Jake Scherer, parents Karl and Colleen Scherer, received the 4-H Undergraduate College Scholarship, the Betty and Mona Hartwig Scholarship, and the Warren E. Myers Agricultural Scholarship. Jake accomplished much during his 4-H years. He participated in county-level leadership training and exhibited projects in livestock, sport fishing, and woodworking at both the county and state levels. Jake demonstrates the outstanding scholarship and leadership that 4-H participation is designed to develop.
Hannah Warnick, parents Joe and Katie Warnick, also received the 4-H Undergraduate College Scholarship. Hannah was very active during her 4-H years. She exhibited projects in cooking, food preservation, sewing, and flower arranging at the county and state levels. She also participated in community service projects with her club for a local food pantry and landscaping projects.
Reagan Hunt, parents Brad and Denise Hunt, also received the 4-H Undergraduate College Scholarship. Reagan exhibited projects in visual arts, cooking, photography, interior design, and computer-generated art at the county and state levels. She was also involved in community service with her club for a local food pantry and landscaping projects.
The 4-H Undergraduate College Scholarship provides $4000 scholarships to 4-H members pursuing post-secondary education. The Betty and Mona Hartwig Scholarship was established by the Hartwig family and provides a $1000 scholarship to a 4-H member pursuing a degree in agriculture or a related field. The Warren W. Myers Agricultural Scholarship provides a $300 scholarship to a Macon County 4-H member who is an agriculture college-bound freshman.
The Macon County 4-H and Extension Foundation Board of directors wish to congratulate all three scholarship recipients and look forward to what these outstanding young people will do in the future.
