Blue Ridge Community Unified School District 18 Board of Education Met June 16.

A Regular Meeting of the Board of Education of Blue Ridge CUSD #18 was held beginning at 7:00 PM in the Blue Ridge High School Library, 411 North John St.
Farmer City, Illinois 61842.
I. Call to Order
Board President, Dale Schneman called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
II. Roll Call
Board Members in attendance were Carlos Burton, Kenna Dunlap Johnson, Franci Miller, Jason Nolan and Dale Schneman. Chelsie Leffelman was absent.
Also in attendance were Superintendent Hillary Stanifer; Principal Katie Nichols, and Recording Secretary Kristi Woliung. Interim Principal Mary Diener, Interim Director of Student Services Lois Dowling and Principal Ryan Peyton were absent.
III. Public Comments/Recognition of Guests

IV. New Business
A. Oath of Office and Seating of New Board Member
The newly elected Board of Education member recited the Oath of Office with the Board President.

VI. Call to Order

VII. Roll Call

VIII. Presentations
A. Blue Ridge Athletics
Mr. Miles, Blue Ridge High School Athletic Director, presented on the athletic achievements and updates.
Dr. Stanifer presented the Blue Ridge Intermediate & Junior High list of athletic achievements, coach openings and updates, provided by the athletic director, Mrs. Kollross.
B. Engie-Sharon Uslan
Sharon Uslan, Regional Director of ENGIE, presented on the benefits ENGIE could bring to our district by increasing safety, reducing operation costs and maximizing lifespans of critical assests.
IX. Communication
The Board of Education received a thank you from recently retired BRHS principal, Mr. John Lawrence.

XI. Administrative Reports
A. Superintendent
Dr. Stanifer presented her report and highlighted that summer school is finishing up and had good numbers all around.
1.HVAC Update
The work being done by King Lar and GHR on the fresh air unit at BRIJHS is going well. A & K will be doing the work of the removing and installing process of the insulation on all the Daikin units, Lennox units and the fresh air units. All projects are being funded by the federal ESSER II monies.
2.Return to Learning Plan - ESSER III
ESSER III is the final federal funding grant. A list of options has been compiled to best serve the students in their education and their safety.
3.E-Learning Plan
An E-Learning plan has been developed in the case of an inclement weather or another type of emergency. This plan would allow for the district to use up to 5 e learning days, as they would count for attendance and would allow for days to not be added at the end of the school year.
4.American Heart Association
The district continues to participate in the American Heart Association, Kids Heart Challenge. This past school year, both Schneider and BRIJHS had their highest and best donation year.
B. Principals
1.Mr. Ryan Peyton, Schneider Elementary
Mr. Peyton was absent from the meeting.
2.Mrs. Katie Nichols, Blue Ridge Intermediate & Junior High School Mrs. Nichols presented her report and highlighted a few areas. The D/F list has gone down since the beginning of the school year, starting out at 59% and ending at 26%. The end of the year field day was a success with plenty of activities for the students to enjoy. Summer school is focusing on reading, math and writing skills for those that needed the extra help.
3.Mrs. Mary Diener/Mrs. Lois Dowling, Blue Ridge High School Mrs. Diener and Mrs. Dowling were absent from the meeting but incoming principal, Mr. Brian Easter, presented the report and highlighted a few areas. Summer school is winding down and almost finished. Graduation was held in person and a total of 46 students graduated in the class of 2021. FFA represented the district well with all of their awards received at the FFA Convention.
