Blue Ridge Community Unified School District #18 Board met Nov. 11.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

A Special Meeting-Expulsion Hearing of the Board of Education of Blue Ridge CUSD #18 was held beginning at 6:00 PM in the Blue Ridge High School Conference Room, 411 North John St., Farmer City, Illinois 61842.

I. Call to Order

Board President, Dale Schneman called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.

II. Roll Call

Board Members in attendance were Carlos Burton, Kenna Dunlap Johnson, Chelsie Leffelman, Franci Miller,and Dale Schneman.

Also in attendance were Superintendent Hillary Stanifer and Principal Brian Easter.

III. Public Comments/Recognition of Guests

IV. Appointment of Board Member to Preside Over Discipline Hearing Motion by Franci Miller 2nd by Chelsie Leffelman to appoint Dale Schneman to preside over the student disciplinary hearings.

Roll call vote. 5 ayes 0 nays Motion carried.

V. Closed Session #1

Motion by Carlos Burton 2nd by Chelsie Leffelman to move from open session to closed session for discussion of student discipline at 6:12 p.m.

Roll call vote. 5 ayes 0 nays Motion carried.

A. The discussion of student discipline 5ILCS 120/2(c) (9)

VI. Open Session #1

Motion by Franci Miller 2nd by _____ to move from closed session to open session at 7:06 p.m.

Voice vote. 5 ayes 0 nays Motion carried.

Motion by Dale Schneman 2nd by ________ to move that Student A be found to have committed an act of gross disobedience or misconduct such that expulsion may be justified.

Roll call vote. 5 ayes 0 nays Motion carried.

VII. Closed Session #2

Motion by Carlos Burton 2nd by Chelsie Leffelman to move from open session to closed session for discussion of student discipline at 7:07 p.m.

Roll call vote 5 ayes 0 nays Motion carried.

VIII. Open Session #2

Motion by Carlos Burton 2nd by Dale Schneman to move from closed session to open session at 9:51 p.m.

Voice vote. 5 ayes 0 nays Motion carried.

Motion that the expulsion of Student A be “stayed” contingent upon Student A’s compliance with the conditions itemized in the Statement of Understanding and Agreement to Conditions.

Roll call vote. 4 ayes 1 nays Motion carried.

IX. Adjournment
