Report: Decatur School District spent $13,478 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Decatur School District 61 was up 22.1 percent from five years ago, according to the Macon Reporter analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Macon County school district spent $11,038 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $13,478 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 9,106 to 8,742 students over the same period.

Decatur's spending in 2019-20 was 7 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
