The Big Blue men's tennis team took the court for their third match of the weekend on Sunday, February 20 on the indoor courts at the Decatur Athletic Club in Decatur, Ill. Millikin matched up against the Scots of Monmouth College and picked up a sweep victory.
The first victory of the day was secured by the doubles team of Clayton Maack and Holden Owens at No. 2 with an 8-0 win over Sawyer Day and Andre Myklebust. Cory Erickson and Reiss Naylor teamed up for the second win at No. 3 doubles with a win over Matthew Simonson and Nicholas Robertson. The doubles sweep was completed at No. 1 with Theodor Wolf and Cole Phillips picking up an 8-2 victory over Andrew Shie and Brendan Guenther.
On the singles side, Owens was victorious over Day in 6-1, 6-0 sets at No. 3. Phillips tallied twin 6-0 sets against Myklebust to guarantee the Big Blue victory. Wolf posted 6-2, 6-1 sets at No. 2 against Guenther for a win. In the final two matches of the day, Erickson was the victor in 6-0, 6-0 sets against Simonson at No. 5, and Naylor took the win against Robertson at No. 6 6-2, 6-1.
Millikin is set to take a road trip to Mount Vernon, Iowa and Cedar Rapids, Iowa on February 25-26 for matchups against Cornell College, Coe College, and Loras College.
