Sangamon Valley Community Unit School District 9 Board of Education met Jan. 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Call to Order

President Stephanie Guerrero called the January meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.  Board members present were: Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero (via Zoom), Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. Absent: Jessica Browning, Matt Wood.

Administration

Also present: Superintendent Bob Meadows

Pledge to the Flag

Mr. Meadows led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Executive Session

Josh Hilbert moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to enter closed session at 6:01 p.m. for the reasons stated on the agenda. Roll Call vote: Ayes- Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Closed Session Adjournment

Jeff Stahl moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to re-enter open session at 6:24 p.m. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Closed Session Minutes

Martha Leeper moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion to accept the closed session minutes as read in closed session. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Resignation

Josh Hilbert moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Debby Hawkins as a 4th Grade teacher effective January 4, 2022. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Resignation

Martha Leeper moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Alexa Jones as Head MS Volleyball Coach effective at the end of the 21-22 season. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Resignation

Jeff Stahl moved and Stephanie Guerrero seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Rikki Whitney as an At-Will, Benefited Bus Driver effective January 14, 2022. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Consent Agenda

Martha Leeper moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Superintendent’s Report

Mr. Meadows discussed School Bus Stop Arm Violations with the Board. The district will purchase 4 cameras at a cost of $3,469.44.

Mr. Meadows updated the Board on the latest COVID isolation and exclusion numbers.

Closed Session Minutes

Lori Campbell moved and Martha Leeper seconded the motion to keep the closed session minutes from July 2021 through December 2021 closed. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

MS Promotion

Josh Hilbert moved and Jeff Stahll seconded the motion to set MS Promotion for Friday, May 20, 2022 at 7:00 P.M. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

HS Graduation

Martha Leeper moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to set HS Graduation for Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 7:00 P.M. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Adjournment

Lori Campbell moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion that the meeting be adjourned at 6:50 p.m. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
