Millikin’s Kuxmann named to CoSIDA Academic All-America® First Team

359

Millikin University senior Ben Kuxmann (Bourbonnais, Bradley Bourbonnais H.S.) was named to the 2021-22 Academic All-America® First Team for Men's Track & Field/Cross Country, selected by CoSIDA, recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.

Kuxmann's selection comes after he was named to the Academic All-District® in NCAA Division III District 7 in May.  This is the second straight season that Kuxmann has earned Academic All-America® honors after being a Second Team selection last year.

Kuxmann, an English (Secondary Education) major, has a near perfect grade point average. He earned All-American honors after a second-place finish in the 800 Meters at the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track National Championships, and he finished in third at the 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in March. Kuxmann finished in third at the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.

Kuxmann is a two-time College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Champion in both the Indoor and Outdoor 800 Meters. Kuxmann holds the CCIW and Millikin record in the 800 Meters-Indoor at 1:53.62 and the Outdoor 800 Meters at 1:49.19.

The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot.

The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
