Sangamon Valley Community Unit School District 9 Board of Education met June 15.

Call to Order

President Stephanie Guerrero called the Amended Budget Hearing to order at 6:00 p.m. Board members present were: Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. Absent: Matt Wood.

Administration

Also present: Superintendent Bob Meadows, SVI Principal Kristina Sommer, and SVHS Principal Jonathan Field.

Amended Budget Hearing

Martha Leeper moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to open the hearing on the amended 2021-2022 school district budget. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Jessica Browning moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion to close the hearing on the amended 2021-2022 school district budget.  Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Hearing Adjournment

Jessica Browning moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion that the hearing be adjourned at 6:02 p.m. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Megan Nunn addressed the Board regarding the Food Service Renewal.

Resignation

Jeff Stahl moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Carl Spath as MS Girls Track Coach effective immediately. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

SVEA

Martha Leeper moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to approve the Collective Bargaining Agreement with SVEA for the 2022-2023, 2023-2024, 2024-2025, and 2025-2026 school years. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Support Staff Salary

Martha Leeper moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to increase the educational support staff salary schedule by 4.47% for the 2022-2023 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Consent Agenda

Josh Hilbert moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Superintendent’s Report

Mr. Meadows discussed the Food Service Report with the Board.

Mr. Meadows reviewed the fee schedule with the Board.

Mr. Meadows updated the Board on the Primary intercom system.

Dr. Field reviewed the Fastbridge Achievement Data for the 2021-2022 school year.

Amended Budget

Jeff Stahl moved and Martha Leeper seconded the motion to accept the amended 2021-2022 budget as presented. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Health Insurance

Jeff Stahl moved and Martha Leeper seconded the motion to accept the amended 2021-2022 budget as presented. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Insurance

Lori Campbell moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to award the dental, vision, and life insurance coverage to Guardian for the 2022-2023 school year at no cost to the district. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Insurance

Martha Leeper moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion to award Liberty Mutual Insurance the property/casualty, commercial auto, student accident and the umbrella coverage for the 2022-2023 school year at a total cost not to exceed $130,801. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Insurance

Josh Hilbert moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to award the workers compensation insurance coverage to Zenith for the 2022-2023 school year at a total cost of $42,210. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Aramark

Martha Leeper moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to renew the contract for food management services with Aramark for the 2022-2023 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Community Eligibility Provision Program

Lori Campbell moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to proceed with the Community Eligibility Provision Program in grades Pre-K through 8th for the 2022-2023 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Fee Schedule

Martha Leeper moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to approve the 2022-2023 fee schedule as presented. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Safe Schools

Jessica Browning moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to approve the Regional Safe School and Futures Unlimited agreements for the 2022-2023 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Student Transportation

Lori Campbell moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion to adopt the resolution for student transportation safety hazard for the 2022-2023 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Prevailing Wage Resolution

Jeff Stahl moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to adopt the Prevailing Wage Resolution for the 2022-2023 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

SVP Handbook

Jeff Stahl moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to approve the changes to the Primary School Student Handbook for the 2022-2023 school year. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

SVI Handbook

Josh Hilbert moved and Martha Leeper seconded the motion to approve the changes to the Intermediate School Handbook for the 2022-2023 school year. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

SVHS Handbook

Josh Hilbert moved and Stephanie Guerrero seconded the motion to approve the changes to the High School Student handbook for the 2022-2023 school year. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

MS Girls Softball

Martha Leeper moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to approve the cooperative agreement for MS Girls Softball with Tri-City as the host school for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

MS Boys Baseball

Jeff Stahl moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to approve the cooperative agreement for MS Boys Baseball with Tri-City as the host school for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, and Jeff Stahl. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Next regular meeting is scheduled for July 20, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.
