City of Decatur City Council met June 13.

The City Council of the City of Decatur, Illinois, met in Study Session at 5:30 p.m., in the Council Chamber, One Gary K. Anderson Plaza, Decatur, Illinois.
Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe presided, together with her being Council members Dennis Cooper, Lisa Gregory, David Horn, Bill Faber and Ed Culp. Councilman Chuck Kuhle participated through electronic attendance pursuant to Resolution R2020-84, Resolution Amending Resolution 2008-02 Defining Meeting and Adopting Procedures for Electronic Attendance in Meetings. Mayor Moore Wolfe declared a quorum present.
City Manager Scot Wrighton attended the meeting as well.
Mayor Moore Wolfe led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Moore Wolfe called for a Study Session on Decatur Civic Center Facility Planning & Development and Jasper Street Corridor Great Streets Initiative.
Mr. David Sangree, President of Hotel & Leisure Advisors, presented a report conducted by Hotel & Leisure Advisors. The purpose of the report was to analyze the highest and best use of the Decatur Civic Center. Mr. Sangree outlined several recommendations from the report: expansion of the facility’s use as a regional hockey venue, improvements to the Civic Center, addition of a 60-80 room hotel in the Civic Center’s green space, addition of a restaurant, addition of a family entertainment center and security enhancement.
Council members held a discussion on the recommendations and provided feedback to staff.
The consensus of Council was in favor of moving forward with an RFP to find and select a development partner.
Councilman Faber exited the Council Chamber at 6:45 p.m. and returned at 6:49 p.m.
Mayor Moore Wolfe continued with a discussion on the Jasper Corridor Great Streets Initiative.
Mr. Greg Crowe, Assistant Director of Economic and Community Development, gave a brief presentation on the six components of the Jasper Corridor Great Streets Initiative.
Mr. Cordaryl “Pat” Patrick, talked about the creation of a task force for plan implementation.
Council members held a discussion on the project and the consensus of Council was in favor of moving forward with the project.
With the conclusion of the Study Session, Mayor Moore Wolfe called for Appearance of Citizens and the following citizen provided comments to the Council: Abeer Motan.
With no other discussion, Mayor Moore Wolfe called for adjournment. Councilwoman Gregory moved the Study Session be adjourned, seconded by Councilman Kuhle and upon call of the roll, Council members Dennis Cooper, Lisa Gregory, David Horn, Chuck Kuhle, Bill Faber, Ed Culp and Mayor Moore Wolfe voted aye. Mayor Moore Wolfe declared the motion carried.
Mayor Moore Wolfe declared the City Council meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
