Q4 2021 Recap: 2 parolees from Macon County convicted of homicide set for release

There were two offenders convicted of homicide living in Macon County released on parole during the fourth quarter of 2021, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Macon Reporter.

The data shows a man and a woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for homicide was 57. The younger parolee was a 51-year-old man sentenced in 1997, and the oldest was a 63-year-old woman sentenced in 1990.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Paula Sims. She was convicted in 1990 when she was 30 years old. She is now 63.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
