Village of Lovington Board of Trustees met April 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Call to order: President Roger Walker called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m.

Pledge of Allegiance: Since the pledge was led in the Appropriations Meeting it wasn’t recited again.

Roll Call found the following trustees to be present: Dennis Garmon, Todd Hale, Mike Young, Brittany Bates and April Daily. President Roger Walker and Clerk Alma Fair were also present. Mitchel Leinard was absent.

A Motion was made by Young and seconded by Daily to accept Mitchel Leinard’s resignation as board trustee.

Discussion and action on March 2023 invoices

A Motion was made by Daily and seconded by Hale to accept the March 2023 invoices as presented.

A Motion was made by Garmon seconded by Bates to approve the March 13, 2023, Regular Meeting minutes as presented.

Treasurer’s Report

Discussion and action on March 2023 treasurer’s report

A Motion was made by Bates and seconded by Garmon to accept March 2023 treasurer’s report as presented.

Department Reports

Water & Sewer Report – Todd Hale

Hale reported Garmon, Walker and himself had a meeting with Farnsworth regarding identifying the lead connections – Daily stated that Doggett ask for them to give him a month to check with Illinois Rural Water before hiring the company that Farnsworth recommended. Those trustees and mayor that were at the meeting with Farnsworth stated that we should go with what Farnsworth recommended.

A Motion was made by Garmon and seconded by Hale to accept the 120Water Small Systems Bundles Services and Software to do an assessment of lead services in our Village at the estimated cost of $5500.00.

A Motion was made by Daily and seconded by Hale to purchase Subsurface Solutions equipment and GIS Maps for a cost of $4,339.00.

Park and Special Projects – Brittany Bates

A meeting on April 17th for the Sesquicentennial will be held at the library for the committee working on the celebration. The Fish Fry will be June 10, 2023, with the fireworks to follow.

A Motion was made by Garmon and seconded Bates to help with June Fest as we have in the past.

Town clean-up will be May 20th with 4 dumpsters and no pickup at residences. The dumpsters will be behind Lester Mechling’s building. Donyell Morgan and Brittany Bates are overseeing the town wide garage sale for May 12-13.

Easter Egg Hunt was last Sunday with around 200 people in attendance, they provided free hot dogs to those in attendance.

Chris Gillis will be installing new kiddy park equipment soon.

Police – Dennis Garmon

The police are getting the body cameras installed this week. Chief Swisher will be having taser training at the sheriff’s office as well as pepper spray training. Jay Clark used to be an officer for us and would like to be part time with us again. He does need to have some training. Garmon asked if we would be able to pay for training. Walker said it would be up to us. Garmon went over the police report presented to us.

Streets and Alleys – Mike Young

Robert Parrish requested that Middle Street in front of his house needs to be widened. Young will go take pictures of the street and report back next month.

Buildings and Grounds – April Daily

Daily spoke with Chris Gillis regarding the sidewalks he has selected. More sidewalks were mentioned that would need to be replaced.

Insurance – Clerk Fair

Nothing to report.
