Village of Lovington Board of Trustees met May 22.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Call to order: President Roger Walker called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Pledge of Allegiance: Walker led the pledge of Allegiance.

Roll Call found the following trustees to be present: Dennis Garmon, Todd Hale, Keith Stanberry, Mike Young, Brittany Bates and April Daily. President Roger Walker and Clerk Alma Fair were also present.

Guests: None

Minutes and action of Village Clerk

Old Business

Discussion and Action on garbage services

Daily reported that she didn’t hear back from any of the garbage services companies. Waste Management & GFL will send us quotes. They both asked if we would be willing to do the billing. It would be cheaper for the customer. Doty’s was sold and they may not be interested.

New Business

Closed Session

Meeting of “The Mayor & Commissioners of a municipality organized under article 4 of the Municipal Code held to discuss matters, which relate solely to exercise their executive or administrative responsibilities.”

5 ILCS 120/2 Sec.2 (c) (1) The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of Specific employees

A Motion was made by Young seconded by Garmon to go into closed session for the purpose of the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of Specific employees at 6:10 pm

YEA: Young, Hale, Bates, Stanberry, Daily, Garmon

No: None

MOTION CARRIED

Return to Open Session

A Motion was made by Garmon seconded by Hale to return from closed session at 7:29 PM

YEA: Hale, Bates, Stanberry, Daily, Garmon, Young

No: None

MOTION CARRIED

No action was taken from closed session.

Department Reports

Water and Sewer Report

2. Report and action if needed.

Walker did report on the well – the company repairing recommends we use PVC pipe.

Parks and Special Projects

1. Report and action if needed.

The playground equipment has been installed by the company that we purchased it from. The picnic tables are going to be needed to replace at some point.

We got 3 more dumpsters for cleanup day.

Meeting with Park Rec to discuss when to have movie night.

Police

1. Report and action if needed.

The body cams items needed have arrived.

Streets and Alleys

1. Report and action if needed.

Buildings and Grounds

2. Report and action if needed.

Insurance

1. Report and action on any insurance needs

Presidents Report

2. Report and action if needed.

We will have another special meeting on June 5, 2023, with closed session.

A Motion was made by Garmon to adjourn at 7:51 p.m.
