Barclay Public Library District Board of Trustees met June 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

President Jean Munson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

ROLL CALL: Katherine Brodbeck, Gary Horvath, Kay Mason, Pam McMiIllen, Laura Philips, Michelle Sawicki (Director)

There were no remarks from the public.

BILLS: Motion by Laura, second by Katherine to approve payment of the May bills. All aye

TREASURER’S REPORT: filed for audit

SECRETARY’S MINUTES

 Motion by Katherine, second by Laura to approve the minutes of the May 15, 2023 regular meeting as amended. All aye

 Motion by Pam, second by Laura to approve the minutes of executive session on May 15, 2023. All aye

LIBRARIAN’S REPORT

 New cabinets have been installed in the local history room.

 The Promised Land Ministries church is for sale for $140,000.

 30 people attended the Illini Cemetery Walk with Scott Bird.

 There is a link to the Google Doc for the Decennial Committee.

 A Treasurer’s Bond has been taken out in Katherine’s name.

 Per capita grants have been received for Barclay and Harristown districts.

 The Friends of the Library are running a summer fundraiser.

 Attorney Ed Flynn will attend the Harristown Board Meeting on July 13 to answer questions about the merger.

 A record number of children (163) have registered for Summer Reading.

 Defibrillator training will be scheduled in June or July.

EXECUTIVE SESSION: None

BUSINESS

 Discussion and approval of appointing Karen Edgecombe as a trustee was tabled until July.

 The board reviewed the financial report for May.

 Motion by Pam, second by Jean to approve the new format for the Treasurer’s Report. All aye

 Motion by Laura, second by Gary to remove Maria Dent as a check signer. All aye

 Motion by Laura, second by Gary to add Katherine Brodbeck as a check signer. All aye

 The board reviewed the report and recommendations from the Building and Grounds committee.

 The Internal Audit will be July 17 at 6:15.

 The Budget and Appropriations Hearing will be August 21 at 6:45.

 Motion by Laura, second by Katherine to approve the Non-Resident Card Program. All aye

 Motion by Laura, second by Pam to keep minutes of closed meetings closed. All aye

 Motion by Laura, second by Katherine to delete recordings of closed meetings older than 18 months. All aye

 Michelle will schedule a tour of the Promise Land Ministry building. Persons of the Month

 Jeff Owen for helping with the Book and Bake Sale

 Scott Bird for hosting the cemetery walk

The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
