Moultrie County taxpayers ranked 57th in total sales taxes paid per county in June, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, Moultrie County residents paid $255,325 in sales taxes during June.

Moultrie County ranked 55th in the Prairie State the month before, with $275,016 spent in sales taxes.

The County Sales Tax accounted for the largest share of sales taxes paid by Moultrie County residents in June.

Illinois is currently the highest taxed state in the US. A study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes are 39.83% higher than the national average.
