Sangamon Valley Community Unit School District 9 Board of Education met March 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Call to Order

President Stephanie Guerrero called the March meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.  Board members present were: Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. Absent: Martha Leeper

Administration

Also present:  Superintendent Bob Meadows, SVI Principal Kristina Sommer, SVMS Principal Jonathan Downing, and SVHS Principal Jonathan Field.

Pledge to the Flag

Mr. Meadows led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Visitors

Stephanie Guerrero welcomed the visitors.  Visitors present were Gretchen Cromwell.

Closed Session

Matt Wood moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to enter closed session at 6:01 p.m. for the reasons stated on the agenda. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Jeff Stahl moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to re-enter open session at 6:34p.m. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Closed Session Minutes

Josh Hilbert moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to accept the closed session minutes as read in closed session. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Resignation

Matt Wood moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Brittany Massey as a 2nd grade Teacher effective on the last teacher attendance day of the 2023-2024 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Resignation

Jeff Stahl moved and Stephanie Guerrero seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Nichole Torbert as a MS Science Teacher effective March 5, 2024. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Resignation

Lori Campbell moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Katie Nika as a HS Spanish Teacher effective on the last teacher attendance day of the 2023-2024 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Resignation

Matt Wood moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Tracy David as an At-Will Transportation Director effective March 15, 2024. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Resignation

Jeff Stahl moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Carol Stacey as the MS Girls Head Volleyball Coach effective immediately. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Notice of Nonrenewal

Matt Wood moved and Stephanie Guerrero seconded the motion to issue a Notice of Nonrenewal to Tricia Blackburn as a 5th grade Teacher effective on the last day of teacher attendance of the 2023-2024 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Employment

Jeff Stahl moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to employ Kirk Cearlock as an At-Will Transportation Director effective March 18, 2024. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Consent Agenda

Jeff Stahl moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to approve the consent agenda as presented.  Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Matt Wood moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to approve the Memorandum of Agreement with the Sangamon Valley Education Association and Molly Miller to waive the three consecutive absences language in section 6.2-D Eligibility and Restrictions for Use of Sick Leave Bank of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.

QNS

Jessica Browning moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to approve the Three Year Agreement with Quality Network Systems for Technology Support and Service for the 2024-2025, 2025-2026, and 2026-2027 school years as presented for the total amount of $163,586. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Flooring America

Jeff Stahl moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to approve the bid for carpet and tile installation in the Unit Office and entrance from Flooring America for an amount not to exceed $7,526.20. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.

IHSA

Josh Hilbert moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to approve the renewal of the IHSA Membership for the 2024-2025 school year at no cost to the district. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 17, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.
