Moultrie County ranks 58th in total sales taxes paid in Illinois during May

Moultrie County taxpayers ranked 58th in total sales taxes paid per county in May, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, Moultrie County residents paid $250,957 in sales taxes during May.

Moultrie County ranked 59th in the Prairie State the month before, with $252,515 spent in sales taxes.

The County Sales Tax accounted for the largest share of sales taxes paid by Moultrie County residents in May.

As of 2021, Illinois was the highest taxed state in the US. A study from Wallet Hub found Illinois taxes were 39.83% higher than the national average.
