Maroa Forsyth Community Unit School District 2 Board of Education met Sept. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

1. Call to Order- 6:37pm

Pledge of Allegiance- No Motion

2. Roll Call - Present - Wise, Crawford, Conway, Parker, Feinstein

Absent - Lidy, Zuniga

3. Good News- No Motion

a. 4 new certified staff members were acknowledged by the administration, 3- 1st grade teachers and 1- HS Math teacher

b. The Marching Band swept all their categories at the Monticello Band Competition - Fantastic Job Band Members !

c. Pre-school receives Gold Accreditation - Huge Shout Out to the amazing Pre-School team !

4. Guests and Visitors- No Motion

a. Tina Horve -Educational Foundation and Archives - discussed the current and upcoming projects and scholarships, Brick Paver updates and information, the plans and movements on the memorials and garden plans, alumni database project and pie sales fundraiser.

5. Consent Agenda - Motion by Crawford and seconded by Parker to approve the consent agenda as presented. Vote 5-0 in favor

6. New Business

a. Approval of resolution authorizing intervention in proceedings before the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board regarding Hickory Point Realty, LLC. PTAB Appeal No. 2023-04182

Motion by Wise seconded by Conway to approve the resolution authorizing intervention in proceedings before the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board regarding Hickory Point Realty, LLC. PTAB Appeal No. 2023-04182. Vote 5-0 in favor. -Action.

b. Approval of the FY 25 Budget

Motion by Conway seconded by Feinstein to approve the FY 25 Budget. Vote 5-0 in favor.

c. Approval of Press Issue 115 per policy: 2:70, 2:125, 4:70, 4.80, 5:130, 5:200, 6:140, 2.70-E, 2.160-E

Motion by Conway seconded by Crawford to approve Press Issue 115 per policy: 2:70, 2:125, 4:70, 4.80, 5:130, 5:200, 6:140, 2.70-E, 2.160-E. Vote 5-0 in favor.

d. Place on review Press Issue 116 - Informational ... Adam discussed highlights and changes

e. Decatur Christian School - Informational... Adam informed board he went and met with DCS and explained they would like to extend terms out by a few years.

f. Staff Appreciation and Service Awards Nov. 4th - Informational...discussed the cookout information and plans

g. October 3rd-IASB Regional Meeting - Informational... Adam will be attending and opened to board members who would like to join him.

h. SRO Agreement - Informational... Adam discussed the threats last week at surrounding schools and informed the board of the calls and comments he's been receiving from parents on how much they appreciate our proactive approach and all the positives they see with having the SRO officers on campus. Adam mentioned the safety letter he set out to parents as well.

7. Old Business

a. Principal/AD Reports - No Motion, No Action

b. IASB Liaison Report - Jill Feinstein - No Motion, No Action

8. Executive Session

Motion by Crawford seconded by Parker to enter into closed session at 7:53pm, Legal Action against public body 5ILCS/120/2 (c) (11) Vote 5-0 in favor.

Motion by Crawford seconded by Feinstein to exit closed session at 9:05pm. Vote 4-0 in favor.

9. Adjournment - Motion by Feinstein and seconded by Conway to adjourn at 9:05pm. All in Favor. Motion Carried
