On January 28, 2025, a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Clinton Community Unit School District 15. The request, made by the Macon Reporter, sought copies of all emails and memos from the past year that contained specific keywords.
The keywords in question were "Lucy Calkins" and "Units of Study". As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Macon Reporter believe these records are crucial for maintaining transparency and holding public institutions accountable.
We have requested these documents preferably in an electronic format for ease of access and dissemination. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we have also asked for a fee waiver under our eligibility as media professionals.
According to the Illinois Report Card, the average state teacher salary in 2023 was $73,916, while the state average administrative salary stood at $116,908. The average student-to-administrative ratio is reported as 141:1, with an average student-to-teacher ratio of 17:1. Interestingly, it was found that 58% of teachers in Illinois hold a master's degree or higher.
As always, our aim is to provide transparency to the public and ensure that institutions are held accountable. We await response from Clinton Community Unit School District 15 regarding this FOIA request.
