City of Clinton City Council met Jan. 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Minutes of the regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Clinton, Illinois in session in the Council Chambers of City Hall and electronically, Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. Commissioner Wise, presiding. On roll call, Commissioners Buchanan and Ballenger were present.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

None

Written motion was made by Commissioner Buchanan and seconded by Commissioner Ballenger that the minutes of the regular meeting of December 17, 2024 be approved as submitted. On roll call vote, Commissioners Ballenger, Buchanan and Wise voted “Yes.”

The bills and payroll were read.

Written motion was made by Commissioner Ballenger and seconded by Commissioner Buchanan that the bills and payroll be allowed as read and the Clerk be instructed to issue warrants on the Treasurer for the several amounts. On roll call vote, Commissioners Buchanan, Wise and Ballenger voted “Yes.”

PETITIONS

None

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS

Written motion was made by Commissioner Ballenger and seconded by Commissioner Buchanan to appoint Tony Harris Administrative Assistant to the Council. On roll call vote, Commissioners Wise, Ballenger voted “Yes.”

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF STREETS & PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS

Commissioner Buchanan thanked the crews for snow removal and wanted to remind the public that after 2” of snow the snow routes take affect. He asked those that live on the side streets if possible to move cars as it is tighter on those streets.

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC PROPERTY

Commissioner Wise reported that the part for the lime silo has arrived and been repaired, issues should be clearing up with that. Commissioner Wise thanked the Police Department and Street crews for the storm event.

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH & SAFETY

Chief Lowers introduced Officer Roberts and talked about his background and the City Clerk swore in Donovan Roberts as Police Patrolman of the Police Department.

Commissioner Ballenger mentioned that the community was great staying home during the storm event.

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTS & FINANCES 

Accounts & Finances had no report.

OLD BUSINESS

None

NEW BUSINESS

Written motion was made by Commissioner Buchanan and seconded by Ballenger to approve the supplemental engineering agreement for Liberty Lane Resurfacing Project. On roll call vote, Commissioners Ballenger, Buchanan and Wise voted “Yes.”

On File - Ordinance Authorizing the sale of excess personal property – street department

Written motion was made by Commissioner Ballenger and seconded by Commissioner Buchanan to approve cyber coverage in the amount of $2542 from Toko Marine via IMLRMA Insurance program. On roll call vote, Commissioners Buchanan, Wise, Ballenger voted “Yes.”

ADJOURNMENT

With no further business to come before the Council, a motion was made by Commissioner Buchanan and seconded by Commissioner Ballenger to adjourn the meeting. On roll call vote, Commissioners Wise, Ballenger and Buchanan voted “Yes.”
