FOIA Request to Macon County Election Division Regarding Information on Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Macon Reporter have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the Macon County Election Division.
Our request seeks a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election. The information requested includes each candidate's first, middle, and last name; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; and party affiliation.
In addition to this, we have also asked for all contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As members of the media committed to transparency and holding public institutions accountable, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We await a response from the Macon County Election Division and will continue our efforts in ensuring that our readers receive accurate and timely information about their local government affairs.
