State Representative Regan Deering has initiated her inaugural Summer Reading Program, "Reading is Sweet," aimed at kindergarten through 5th-grade students residing in or attending school within the 88th House District. Participants are required to read eight books during their summer break, with a parent or guardian confirming the completion of each book. Books exceeding 150 pages may be counted as two.

"As a former educator and current school board member and parent, I know how important it is to encourage students to continue reading over the summer months," stated Rep. Deering. "I am extremely passionate about reading and am an avid reader myself, so I am welcoming all kindergarten through 5th grade students living in or attending school in the 88th District to join me in reading this summer!"

Submissions for the program are due by July 15th, either electronically or via mail using a form found in the brochure. Online submissions can be made at RepDeering.com under the "Summer Reading" section located within the Resources tab. Paper forms should be sent to Rep. Regan Deering at her Decatur address. Upon collection of all submissions, participating students will be invited to an ice cream party hosted by Rep. Deering later this summer and will receive an official House of Representatives certificate recognizing their achievement.

For additional details or electronic copies of materials, contact Rep. Deering's office at (217) 876-1968.
