State Representative Regan Deering announced that 14 public libraries in the 88th District have received Public Library Per Capita Grants from the Illinois Secretary of State's office. The grants, which total over $50,000, are intended to help libraries maintain core services and make improvements.
"The Per Capita Library Grants are great news for the 88th District," said Rep. Deering. "Thanks to these awards, libraries in the district will continue to offer core services to all constituents and be able to make improvements. I am glad to see that so many libraries in the district were selected for this grant."
The funds may be used by libraries to meet or work towards meeting Illinois library standards. Among those awarded are Atwood-Hammond Public Library District with $3,669.80, Bement Public Library District with $2,886.58, and Hope Welty Public Library District with $4,358.63.
Other recipients include Willow Branch Township Library receiving $1,424.85; Martin Township Public Library at $1,778.85; Goose Creek District Library with $1,162.30; Farmer City Public Library at $2,696.30; Forsyth Public Library getting $5,507.65; Heyworth Public Library District with an award of $8,069.73; Blue Ridge Township Public Library receiving $2,038.45; Allerton Public Library District obtaining a grant of $9,046.18; Argenta-Oreana Public Library District with an award of $5,694.98; Cheney’s Grove Township Library getting $1,359.95; and Weldon Public Library District receiving a grant of $1,017.75.
