Maroa Forsyth Community Unit School District 2 Board of Education met Oct. 16.

Strategic Planning Meeting 2

Meeting called to order at 6:06

Strategic Planning Session 2

Mr. Ibbotson introduced Dr. Richard Voltz.

Session 2 Agenda

• Review: First Meeting

• Mission: Development of Mission Statement

• Group Work: Team members divided into groups to review the mission statement

• Vote: Members vote on the best mission statement

• If time: Start work on vision statement

The six core areas of the community survey were reviewed.

1. Academic Rigor and Alignment

2. Equity, Inclusion, and Fairness

3. Student Well-Being and Mental Health

4. Communication and Community Engagement

5. Facilities and Extracurricular Balance

6. Staffing and Retention

The Stair Step Model was discussed for alignment.

1. Mission

2. Vision

3. Values and Beliefs

4. District Goals,

5. Superintendent Goals,

6. Principal/Building Goals

7. Classroom/Teacher Goals

8. Student Goals.

Mission Statement

The current mission statement was reviewed in group work sessions and was modified to be the following:

• Mission statement- Cultivate a learning environment that empowers all students to reach their unique potential

• Motto- Excellence and Pride: This will continue to be evaluated in future meetings

Vision Statement:

Characteristics of a Meaningful and Effective Vision Statement were discussed. Groups worked on a 1st draft of a vision statement.

• 1st Draft Consensus: To be the premier destination district that continues Excellence and Pride by supporting all futures in our ever-changing world

• Discussion if the motto could be the vision.

• This will be reviewed at the next session.

Next meeting- November 6, 2025 at 6:00 P.M. in the library
