Maroa City Council approves TIF agreement

Maroa City Council met Monday, Dec. 19.

CITY OF MAROA MEETING MINUTES

DECEMBER 19, 2016 CITY HALL

7:00 PM

Meeting called to order by Clerk Edwards at 7:00pm. Roll call taken by Clerk Edwards. Aldermen Edwards, Kissinger, Wilkey, Peart, and Mayor Agee are present, Clerk Edwards and Treasurer Modro-Peters are also present. Alderman Sims is absent.

Previous Meeting Minutes Mayor Agee asks if everyone had a chance to look at the minutes. Alderman Wilkey makes a motion to accept the November meeting minutes, Seconded by Alderman Kissinger. All council members present vote aye, motion passed.

Police Report Chief Gaddy is present. Chief Gaddy discusses monthly police activity reports, short month buthave been pretty steady. Alderman Kissinger complains about the traffic when school lets out and actions that the high School kids are taking to cross 51 and how it is not safe. Chief Gaddy states that they are doing all they can to control the situation. Chief Gaddy discusses the trailer parks and what is being done to bring them into compliance.Attorney Report Attorney Antoline is present. Attorney Antoline gives an update on the old Coastal station.Update on the trailer parks and where we stand. Chief Gaddy discusses the trailer parks and what is being done to bring into compliance. Chief has talked with Kris and Jessica regarding their park, they showed proof of applying for State license. Attorney Antoline discusses the Ordinances for this evening.

Engineer's Report Steve Bainbridge, Engineer, is not present.

Zoning/Public Works Mike Hoffman, Superintendent, is present. Superintendent Hoffman discusses the difficulties the street department had with the salting of roads during the ice Storm. Superintendent Hoffman got Some estimates for a Salt hopper that may be put into the pick-up truck. Council agrees to move forward with the purchase in the next fiscal year.

New Business

TIF agreement discussed, it is presented as Ordinance 2016/12/19-1. Alderman Edwards makes a motion to accept Ordinance 2016/12/19-1, seconded by Alderman Peart. All council members present vote aye, motion passed.

Citizen Comments

Committee reports

Alderman Peart states he received a call from the Tuckers, they own the building next to theCafé, the Tuckers are waiting for the license from Macon County Food Permit and Health License and wanted to be sure they did not need anything further from the City before opening. They are going to be baking there. Clerk Edwards States, they do not need to do anything else with the City.

Alderman Edwards presents an estimate for the air conditioner in the police department, Alderman Wilkey states that he will budget it in for repair in the next budget and discuss at that time which estimate to accept.

Bills Mayor Agee asks if everyone had a chance to look at the bills. Alderman Kissinger makes a motion to pay the bills, seconded by Alderman Peart. All council members present vote aye, motion passed.

Alderman Wilkey makes a motion to have Sinkosky Builders replace the gym doors and lock sets for $5,970, seconded by Alderman Peart. All council members present vote aye, motion passed.

Executive Session Alderman Edwards makes a motion to move to Executive session for personnel issues at 7:23 pm, seconded by Alderman Peart. All council members present vote aye, motion passed. Move to Executive Session at 7:23 pm.

Alderman Peart makes a motion to adjourn Executive session at 7:31 pm, seconded by Alderman Edwards.

All council member present Vote aye, motion passed.

 Return to open session at 7:31pm. Adiourn Alderman Edwards makes a motion to adjourn at 7:33pm, seconded by Alderman Peart.

All council members present vote aye, motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 7:33pm.
