Harristown FPD responds to 29 fires in 2017

Harristown Fire Protection District responded to 44 calls in 2017 - 69.2 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Harristown included 29 fires - 11 structure fires, eight vehicle fires and 10 other fires.

In all, the department saw $508,600 in fire loss - or about $17,538 per fire.

The department also received 15 false calls.

The Harristown Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $138,914 in 2017.
