Hickory Point FPD responds to 24 fires in 2017

Hickory Point Fire Protection District responded to 58 calls in 2017 - 18.3 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Hickory Point included 24 fires - 11 structure fires, four vehicle fires and nine other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $13,600 in fire loss - or about $567 per fire.

The department also received 33 false calls, including one malicious call and 32 other false calls.

The Hickory Point Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $532,628 in 2017.
