Bethany Fire Protection District responded to 33 calls in 2017 - 57.1 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Bethany included 28 fires - 15 structure fires, two vehicle fires and 11 other fires.

In all, the department saw $11,500 in fire loss - or about $411 per fire.

The department also received five false calls.

The Bethany Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $302,256 in 2016.
