Lovington FPD responds to eight fires in 2017

Lovington Fire Protection District responded to 10 calls in 2017 - 37.5 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Lovington included eight fires - three structure fires, three vehicle fires and two other fires.

In all, the department saw $4,000 in fire loss - or about $500 per fire.

The department also received two false calls.

The Lovington Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $187,154 in 2017.
