Household-generated latex-paint, oil-based paint, stains, and varnishes in their original containers with legible labels may be dropped-off for proper disposal by residents with a confirmed appointment.

This collection is by appointment at the Macon County Environmental Management Recycling Center at 1750 N. 21st St., Decatur. The Recycling Center is located south of Garfield Ave. and north of Division St. on the east side of 21st St. at the north end of the building with burgundy awnings.

Residents are encouraged to dispose of dry paint and empty cans in their household trash rather than bringing these items to the collection.

Please note that regulations only allow for the acceptance of household paints, stains, and varnishes. Automotive paints, craft paints, lacquers, spray paints, paints from businesses as well as other household hazardous waste items are not accepted at these collections due to state and federal regulations.
