Blue Mound Fire Protection District issued the following announcement on Jan. 12.
7:00 pm road condition update:
We just finished up doing our rounds and have observed the following:
It’s has started to snow again and the wind has slightly picked up. In town the roads are still snow covered. Using caution you can travel slowly. But Route 48 is still BAD! Snow drifts have begun to pile over on the east side of the road. Visibility is not great and you can’t see any lanes. Being that you can’t really tell where the lanes are we are advising you wait out the rest of this snow and let the plows work through the night.
Brett Stocks Country Report:
The roads running north and south are BAD. There are some major snow drifts. And the road is covered. Traveling is not advised at this time.
We haven’t seen any plows out working at this time. Our guess is they are going to let the rest of this snow finish and then hit the roads with everything they have.
