Argenta-Oreana High School issued the following announcement on March 30.

The AOFPD sends our condolences and prayers to ISP as they mourn the loss of two of their own. Trooper Brooke Jones-Story passed away on 3/28 after being hit while out of her vehicle during a stop. Simply for doing her job. All because someone wouldn't move over and slow down. Early this morning Trooper Gerald Ellis was hit head on by a wrong way driver. Our prayers go to their friends, families, and of course our brothers & sisters in blue.

We joke all the time about cops vs firefighters but the truth is, we are one big family. There's no red vs blue, county vs city, career vs volunteer. Just family. We protect each other. Every single one of us have families and friends that we want to go home to. That need us. Every single time someone calls for help, we will always respond, hoping for the best outcome.

Move over. Slow down. Watch where you're going. We are just doing our jobs. Just like these troopers were.

RIP Brooke and Gerald, from all of us on AOFD.
