Former state school employee Manns paid in $22K to teachers' pension fund, could collect $303K in retirement

Former state school employee Marvell Manns, who retired in May 2016, saved $22,026 toward a pension over 7 years working for public schools, Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Manns would collect as much as $303,327, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Macon Reporter.

The projection assumes Manns received $6,375 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Manns will have already received $26,670 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the teachers' pension fund.
