Blue Mound Countryside Fpd issued the following announcement on Oct. 24.
Monday nights training was a blast. South Macon Fire Department organized and hosted a SCBA air management drill. The drill was to be suited up and breathing air from our SCBA’S while playing. Dodgeball!
This drill allowed us to simulate how much air we would consume during a working period. By knowing our limits we can be safer entering burning structures. It showed us how long we will last under working conditions, how long until we are fatigued, and made sure we knew how much air we had left at all times.
While it was a very informative night it was also a lot of fun. Every once in awhile it’s nice to be involved in a “out of the box” training. When it was all said and done, of course we took all our gear off, refilled our bottles, made sure the rigs were ready to go, we played some games against each other.
