Meridian Community Unit School District No.15 Board of Education met Jan. 28.

The Meridian Community Unit School District No. 15 Board of Education held a regular meeting on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, in the Board Room. President Chris Jones called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. The following Members were present: Chris Jones, Becca Kraft, Kara Morey, Monte Hogan, Matt Roush, Adam Herbert, and Clint Gorden. Also present were Andy Pygott, Superintendent and Mindy McGuire, middle school principal.
The meeting adjourned for executive session at 6:33 p.m. for the purpose of discussing matters pertaining to the employment, appointment, or dismissal of specific employees or officers, purchase or sale of property, pending legal matters, student discipline and negotiations on a motion by Member Gorden, seconded by Member Morey. Motion carried 7-0.
On a motion by Member Gorden, seconded by Member Herbert, the Board returned to open session at 7:21 p.m.
Discussion of contract terms were discussed with both Andy Pygott and Mindy McGuire. Terms of the contracts were reviewed and acceptable to both Andy and Mindy.
On a motion by Member Morey, seconded by Member Hogan, the board approved the Superintendent contract as presented. The motion carried with 5 aye and 2 abstentions by Member Herbert and Member Gorden.
On a motion by Member Roush, seconded by member Morey, the board approved the middle school principal contract as presented. The motion carried with 6 aye and 1 abstention by Member Gorden.
The meeting adjourned at 8:06 pm on a motion by Member Gorden and seconded by Member Herbert.
The next regularly scheduled meeting will be February 18, 2020.
