Barclay Public Library District Board of Trustees met April 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

President Ham called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. There were no remarks from the public.

ROLL CALL: Laura, Maria, Jenny, Jean, Susan, Kay and Michelle were present.

BILLS: Motion by Laura, second by Jean to approve payment of March bills.

All aye

TREASURER’S REPORT: filed for audit

SECRETARY’S MINUTES: Motion by Kay, second by Sue to accept the minutes of the March meeting as amended. All aye

LIBRARIAN’S REPORT

•Michelle has been in contact with architect Anders Dahlgren. She will send him a floor plan and photos of the library so he can get started on helping us redesign the space once the building has reopened.

•Rick Meyer from Decatur Public Library informed Michelle that June and September property tax payouts will probably be short and not settled until December.

•IMRF informed Michelle that we have overpaid by $5,268. She is checking for clarification.

•Digital check-outs have nearly doubled during COVID-19.

•The library recently received $750 in memorial contributions for Bonnie Angel.

•The finance committee met prior to the regular board meeting and will present their recommendations at the May meeting.

•The staff has been doing online training during the shutdown, including ways to conduct the summer reading program virtually.

•The library will reopen when authorized by the governor, with safety measures for both staff and patrons.

BUSINESS

•The board reviewed the FY19-20 Quarterly Financial Report.

•Motion by Sue, second by Laura to approve Resolution FY2019-20-1, Resolution to Indemnify the Library Trustee Against Errors and Omissions Claims. Roll call vote: 7-0 in favor

•Motion by Maria, second by Laura to approve the updated Employee Handbook, as amended. All aye

•The board agreed to have the patio bricks power washed and sealed as a temporary measure as we look at the long-range plan.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

•Motion by Kay, second by Laura to enter Executive Session at 8:14 p.m. All aye

•Motion by Jean, second by Sue to leave Executive Session and re-enter Regular Session at 8:33 p.m.

PERSONS OF THE MONTH: The library staff will be recognized for their hard work to keep programs and services going during the shutdown.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
