Sullivan FPD responds to 33 fires in 2018

Sullivan Fire Protection District responded to 58 calls in 2018 - 6.5 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Sullivan included 33 fires - 11 structure fires, eight vehicle fires and 14 other fires. The fire department also responded to three calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $370,500 in fire loss - or about $11,227 per fire.

The department also received 22 false calls, including one malicious call and 21 other false calls.

The Sullivan FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has nine active employees and seven retired or inactive employees, was $147,235 positive as of June 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $3,591 for every fire in 2017.
