Long Creek FPD responds to 27 fires in 2018

Long Creek Fire Protection District responded to 48 calls in 2018 - 18.6 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Long Creek included 27 fires - 19 structure fires, seven vehicle fires and one other fire.

In all, the department saw $1,310,000 in fire loss - or about $48,519 per fire.

The department also received 21 false calls.

The Long Creek Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $480,344 in 2018.

The Long Creek FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has two active employees and one retired or inactive employee, was $30,862 in debt as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $935 for every fire in 2017.
