Librarian's Report:

The American Flag that was outside the Annex was changed in December.

Huge Thank You to Nancy Gorden for cleaning the library in Carolyn Wetzel’s absence. She has been doing a great job.

Personnel have all taken Sexual Harassment Prevention Training which is a new state requirement.

Copy Machine needed new rollers and a new fuse – was fixed on 1/15/21

A staff member asked if the library could purchase an Air Filter (purifier) for the Library.  ]There was some discussion and will be taken under advisement.

Julie is working on inventory in the Library.

Tom Jones painted the bike rack that was rusted and in need of sprucing up.

Sandy Ware would like to volunteer to do peoples taxes as a community service and asked if she could use Library facilities to do it. After some discussion, Alice said others have used the Library Annex as a location to help people with their taxes but the Library assumes no liability or responsibility in the matter. Mrs. Ware could set up using her own equipment and software, make her contacts or appointments, and use the Library as a meeting place.

Library Activities:

Christmas Drive-Up was held on December 5th from 9:30 – 12:00 noon at the Library.

There were 93 children participate in the event. Julie had prepared bags for 100 but had no way of knowing how many people would attend given the COVID-19 restrictions. She was very pleased with the turnout. Big thank you to Santa’s helpers, Dani Noland and Nancy Gorden.

Facebook 12 Days of Christmas Stories appeared to be a great success with hundreds of people who watched and listened to the stories. Thank you also to everyone who helped with this project.

Upcoming Programs:

Story Time on the Go will begin again in February and March. Participants will check out a book and receive a take-home craft, activity page, and treat.

Bookworm will be in the month of February. Julie normally goes to the First grader’s classroom but due to COVID, she can’t go to the school and can’t have fliers. It is really a school event, but has always been a perfect opportunity to introduce the children to the Library and encourage them to get a Library Card.

Old Business:

Grass: Nancy Gorden contacted Steve Case, 716 E. 2700 North Rd, Moweaqua (768-3339) who provided a bid of $80 per year for 4 treatments which include application, fertilizer, broadleaf control, and crabgrass control. Nancy Gorden made a motion to accept the bid. Dani Noland seconded the motion. The motion carried with all ‘Aye’ votes.

Guttering: Anne Byard called Insurance agent, Doug Likes and conveyed the issue regarding the wall of the Masonic Hall. He said, if Masonic Hall comes back with a claim against the Library, it should be turned into the insurance company who will take it from there. (Anne also said that the building wall appears to have been repaired but has not built up any dirt around the foundation.)

New Business:

Dani suggests that Easter be added to the Agenda in the February meeting.

Nancy believes there is a need to assist seniors in scheduling a COVID vaccine. Walgreen’s in South Shores is making appointments a week out but the individuals must have an online account to do so. There was some discussion and the Board will take it under advisement.

Personnel: None

Motion to Adjourn: With no further business to discuss, Julie Chapman made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Amy Brown seconded the motion. The motion carried with all "Aye" votes. The meeting adjourned at 6:44 p.m.
