Meridian Community Unit School District 15 Board met Aug. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Meridian Community Unit School District No. 15 Board of Education held a special meeting in the Board Room, Macon Campus. President Monte Hogan called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. The following Members were in attendance: Monte Hogan, Chris Jones, Rebecca Kraft, Adam Herbert, Clint Gorden and Kara Morey. Member Roush was absent. Also in attendance were: Andy Pygott, Superintendent; Eric Hurelbrink, High School Principal; Mindy McGuire, Middle School Principal; Lori Guebert, Elementary Principal; Michelle Miller, Recording Secretary.

In Communications from the Audience, Dena Wurster and Erin Moyer expressed their concerns with the Board’s decision to amend the Return to School Plan at the August 9, 2021 Board meeting.

On a motion by Member Morey, seconded by Member Gorden, the Board adjourned to executive session at 7:06 p.m. for the purpose of discussing matters pertaining to the employment, appointment, or dismissal of specific employees or officers, purchase or sale of property, pending legal matters, student discipline, and negotiations. Motion carried 6-0.

On a motion by Member Jones, seconded by Member Kraft, the Board returned to open session at 8:57 p.m. Motion carried 6-0.

Member Gorden, seconded by Member Morey, motioned to approve the Tentative Agreement between the Meridian Federation of Teachers and the Meridian CUSD #15 Board of Education for the 2021-2022, 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years as presented. Motion carried on a roll call vote 6-0.

The resignations of Sheila Rappe as National Honor Society Sponsor and Jennifer Skorzak as Library Clerk, were approved on a motion by Member Morey, seconded by Member Herbert. Motion carried on a roll call vote 6-0.

Member Jones, seconded by Member Kraft, motioned to approve the amended Return to School Plan as presented. Motion carried on a roll call vote 6-0.

The meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m. on a motion by Member Gorden, seconded by Member Morey.
