Barclay Public Library District Board of Trustees met April 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

President Jean Munson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

ROLL CALL: Kay Mason, Katherine Brodbeck, Pam McMIllen, Brittany Wentworth, Maria Dent, Michelle Sawicki (Director)

Angie Horvath was a guest.

BILLS: Motion by Pam, second by Katherine to approve the payment of March bills. All aye

TREASURER’S REPORT: filed for audit

SECRETARY’S MINUTES: Motion by Katherine, second by Brittany to approve minutes of the March meeting. All aye

LIBRARIAN’S REPORT

∙ The old circulation desk has been removed and the children’s materials have been moved to the back. J nonfiction is now next to the J fiction.

∙ Michelle is pricing handyman services.

∙ The library needs to find a new auditor.

∙ There is a possibility of a new solar farm in a couple of years, which could help supplement our property tax deficits.

∙ Attorney Ed Flynn is researching the possibility of annexing properties unserved by a library district.

∙ Our survey is available in print and on the website, and has been sent to identified stakeholders, including Harristown (SV) and Warrensburg-Latham teachers.

EXECUTIVE SESSION: none

BUSINESS

∙ The board reviewed the March financial report.

∙ Motion by Maria, second by Pam to reinvest Pyrle’s Legacy at Buena Vista at a rate of 0.40%. Roll call vote: 6-0 in favor

∙ Motion by Kay, second by Maria to hire Floyd and Associates, Certified Public Accountants, with a start date of July 1, 2022. Roll call vote: 6-0 in favor

∙ The board will begin to see the reconciliation sheet, including online payments, and outstanding bills, in order to better understand the bill process.

∙ Motion by Katherine, second by Brittany to approve the Resolution to Indemnify the Library Trustees Against Errors and Omissions Claims, Resolution FY2021-22-1. All aye

∙ Motion by Katherine, second by Brittany to approve the updated Circulation and Services Policy. All aye

∙ Motion by Katherine, second by Brittany to accept the bid from Taylor Made Landscaping, including the purchase of bark mulch, at the cost of $6774.00. Roll call vote: 6-0 in favor

∙ Motion by Jean, second by Kay to stain the support beam to match the woodwork and circulation desk. All aye

∙ Carpet squares for center of building and display racks—tabled

Persons of the Month: Aaric Ward, Kierstein Allen and Ainsley Poston, high school volunteers The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
