Caulkins: 'Last night was a huge night for the conservatives across our state!'

Rep. Dan Caulkins speaks on what a huge success the election results night was.

In a Jun. 29 Facebook post, Caulkins discussed the election results for the Republican party.

"Last night was a huge night for conservatives across our state! Read my statement on last night's election results," said Caulkins.

"I want to thank all of you for your support last night. I'm very excited to begin serving the people of the new 88th District. I've gotten to know many of you over the last few months, and I am committed to standing up and speaking out for our conservative values in Springfield. While I probably will not have an opponent in the general election, that doesn't mean I won't be active helping to elect strong conservative leaders across our state," said Caulkins.

He cheered Sen. Darren Bailey's successful campaign for the Republican nomination to the Governor's seat. "My friend Darren Bailey has turned the Illinois political establishment on their head, both Republican and Democrat over the last few months. Establishment politicians don't understand how a farmer from Southern Illinois with a funny accent was able to get 58% of the vote last night STATEWIDE, with the better-funded establishment candidate getting only 15%, despite outspending Darren 5:1. Let me let you in on a little secret, Darren is as real and authentic as they come. He spent the last year traveling the state of Illinois, meeting people from all different walks of life, taking the time to go to their communities, visit their places of business, see their struggles and listen to the issues that matter most. I hope you've taken the time to get to meet Darren. He is a strong conservative voice that we need as our next Governor. I look forward to introducing you to my friend in the coming months on the campaign trail."

In May, Caulkins blasted the Pritzker administration and other legislators for not doing more to handle the looming energy crisis: "We are facing an immediate manmade crisis as politicians destroy Illinois' robust energy market and unnecessarily endanger our once reliable and clean and low-cost power," Rep. Dan Caulkins said on his website.
