Rep. Dan Caulkins (R-Decatur) is warning voters to be careful when it comes to deciding the race for Macon County Circuit judge.
In an Oct. 5 Facebook post, Caulkins shed light on who is behind Andrew Weatherford's Circuit Judge campaign.
“Andrew Weatherford for Circuit Judge is supported by those who shut down our state in 2020,” Caulkins wrote in the post. “He is also supported by Sue Scherer who cast the deciding vote for the Safe T Act. Be wise in voting Nov. 8th.”
Weatherford announced his candidacy for Macon County Circuit Judge in a May 2022 blog post on his website. The Decatur native has been practicing law since being admitted to the bar in 2009.
Weatherford will be running against Republican Shane Mendenhall in the November general election.
Caulkins, a Republican and a resident of Decatur, was first elected to the Illinois House in 2018, according to the Illinois House. His legislative experience includes serving on the Public Utilities and Prescription Drug Affordability committees.
