HSHS St. Mary's Hospital AthletiCare is offering $25 cash sports physicals for student-athletes in several Macon County schools. These physicals are designed to assess the health of young athletes and are often necessary for participation in organized sports.

"Sports physicals help us learn your child’s baseline for health, detect potential health issues and help address any specific concerns,” stated Dustin Fink, Athletic Trainer at St. Mary's Hospital. To accommodate families, these exams are offered at low cost, during evening hours, and at school sites.

The sports physicals are accessible to students entering grades 5, 7, 8, 10, and 12 for the ’25-’26 school year. Scheduled events will occur at Unity Christian School on May 12, Mt. Zion High School on May 30, Warrensburg-Latham High School on June 13, and MacArthur High School on August 11.

For additional assessments, the Stone Thrown Forward Foundation is offering heart screenings if required. The foundation was established in memory of Kyle Stone, a Maroa-Forsyth High School graduate who died in 2014 from an undiagnosed cardiac condition.

Any student-athlete is welcome to attend the physical events, regardless of school affiliation. Parents should download and fill out the necessary IHSA/IESA forms in advance. The physicals offered at these events are valid for 13 months.
