The Millikin men's and women's cross country team were each picked in finished in second place in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Cross Country Pre-Championships poll released on October 26.
The Big Blue and the eight other conference teams will complete on Saturday, October 29 at St. James Farm in Warrenville, Illinois at the 2022 CCIW Cross Country Championships.
The Millikin men were picked to finish second behind perennial powerhouse North Central College. The Cardinals received 64 points including eight first place votes. Millikin had 57 points receiving one first place vote. The Big Blue have finished in third place in the last two CCIW Championships, which was its best finish since 1962. Millikin's only CCIW Championship came in the first one in 1961.
The Millikin women were chosen to finish in second behind Wheaton College. The Thunder had 64 points with eight first place votes while the Big Blue received one first place vote and 53 points. The Millikin women finished fifth at the 2021 Championships. The Big Blue women's best finish at a conference meet is fourth place in 2015 and 1986.
